Thursday, August 4, 2022

Dear Residents/ANC/Local Businesses/Property Managers:

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will begin an alley improvement project in your neighborhood on or about Thursday, August 12, 2022, weather permitting. The work will include concrete work and will be completed in sections to minimize impacts and access to the alley.

Work is currently scheduled for alley bounded by 5441 Chevy Chase Parkway, N.W., Livingston Street, N.W., Nevada Avenue, N.W., and Legation Street, N.W., (Square 1993), and is scheduled to take place Monday through Saturday between the hours of 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. It is estimated that this work will take approximately one week to complete, weather permitting.

Once the work begins, the areas under construction will be closed and parking will not be permitted. Pedestrians and vehicles will not have access to private property with entrances along the alley. “Emergency No Parking” signs will be posted 72 hours before work is set to begin. In emergency situations access may be possible by notifying our on-site DDOT inspector/contractor or by calling the number below.

For Removal of Trash During Alley Work:

Residential: Trash will be collected in front of your property until the project is completed. Trash does not need to be separated. If your trash can is too cumbersome to handle, please use thick trash bags and place them in the public space in front of your property. This action is being coordinated by DDOT with the Department of Public Works (DPW). All questions regarding trash pick-up must be directed to the DPW at 202-576-9000 or 202-576-9054.

Commercial: DDOT will move smaller dumpsters for pick-up and place them back in the same place after the work is completed. If you have a large dumpster, have your hauler contact DDOT at 202-671-2700 to mitigate any impact on your services.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during the repair work. If you have any questions or concerns about this project, please contact DDOT at 202-207-4660 or by email at ddot@dc.gov.

Sincerely,

Eric Onekon
